September 19, 2009: Birdman Eating Ii

Edit 11/03/2016: Charcoal Lane would soften the blow, though on arrival it became clear that they're non keeping to the 8am opening fourth dimension currently listed on their website. (They did seem to convey opened their doors past times the fourth dimension Michael backtracked from breakfast, though, too thence you lot tin in all probability rely on them for a fine weekend brunch from 9am.)

While this was disappointing, Birdman Eating was an first-class consolation prize. We were surprised to run across it alluvion alongside trendsters at this relatively early on sixty minutes too were lucky to snag a location at the front end window. The carte du jour doesn't seem to convey changed much since our catch a twelvemonth ago, offering enough of new (and veg-friendly) dishes alongside little serving sizes too prices. The baked eggs, at least, seem to come upward inwards a rotation of unlike flavours too at the minute they're all vegetarian. Michael chose the chickpea, pumpkin too ras el hanout version ($12); the spice combination wasn't quite every bit explosive every bit he'd hoped but the eggs were cooked good too happily fuelled him through a productive morning.

has declared Birdman Eating to hold upward shut September 19, 2009: Birdman Eating IIWhile I was tempted past times the dark rice pudding, I was compelled to endeavour the Welsh rarebit ($8.50). It's unapologetically cheesy, though it too had a squeamish fluffiness too distinct hint of mustard. H5N1 raspberry juice was its perfect foil.

Birdman's yet a lovely location to commence a leisurely weekend (or inwards Michael's case, to add together a pinch of leisure to a working weekend). It's no insiders' secret, though, every bit there's constant involve for tables throughout the morn too enough of diners seem to convey travelled from farther afield than the local neighbourhood for a gustation of Fitzroy.
