October 10, 2008: The Annual Lab Culinary Competition

Though my workplace does indeed select an annual culinary competition, y'all may non recall me writing virtually it final year. That's because I didn't - I was inward Queensland, visiting friends together with relatives together with non cooking much at all. By all accounts the contest was at to the lowest degree equally incredible equally the i I was introduce for two years ago.

The premise is this: i time a year, to coincide alongside the birthday of a for certain lovely lady together with long-standing lab member, everyone retreats to their dwelling kitchen together with brings out something especial to portion for lunch. Rather than to a greater extent than food, Lady Jane brings only about or all of her sons together with they eat, judge, together with hand out prizes for any catches their eye. And what a bunch of eye-catching contenders! Take a look...

soy bombs together with Chinese-style barbeque sauce. And, carried away alongside all the novel food, I didn't photograph them. Oh good - y'all know what they hold back like!

Stu's bread-baking bonanza, together with this breadstuff earned an honour for most belonging to a cooking magazine.

Liz O'Brien's non-sausage sausage rolls, enhanced alongside home-grown veges together with tomato plant chutney. They were crowned the best faux-meat creation of the day.

Hungry inward Hogtown, but tasting it was only about other sense alone - similar drinking Dunkin' Donuts, inexpensive coffee'n'all.

Martha Stewart's chocolate together with ginger biscuits (no longer rolled inward extra sugar) together with the vanilla element of this raspberry ripple icecream. Getting them together together with inward to the lab was a tyke logistical challenge, together with I had to continue them mutual coldness together with concord off from presenting them to the grouping until most people were laid for dessert. Though they didn't win a prize, I intend it was worth the effort. They were delicious!

lovely group of people I work with. But I intend their enthusiasm, humour, inventiveness together with generosity is never to a greater extent than obvious than at the annual culinary competition!
